FAQ
Am I able to reuse the bag for another brew?
Yes. However, our bags are not designed for unlimited use. As with anything that is used in excess, there will be some wear and tear. We do not recommend more than 4 uses.
What is the best water for brewing cold brew?
Water quality can be a big component that determines how your brew will taste.
Distilled water = bland/flavorless
Hard water = bitter
That is why we recommend spring or filtered water as your best option for optimal taste.
How long do I brew for?
We recommend 18 hours. This has been our favorite brew time throughout this process. We don't recommend brewing for less than 12 hours (less brew time = less strength of coffee). However, if you enjoy a stronger taste feel free to brew up to 24 hours. We don't recommend brewing past 24 hours (flavor will most likely not improve past this point) -- and who wants to wait that long for their coffee, am I right?!
Where is the best place to brew my cold brew coffee?
We recommend at room temperature (on your countertop) however, it will still brew if placed in the fridge. Making your own cold brew is a slow extraction process. The cooler temperature of the fridge causes the extraction process to conduct at a slower rate. Fridge ... countertop ... you decide. We just enjoy the countertop!
How do I keep my spout from dripping?
We hope you don't experience this issue but if you do, that handy dandy little cap that came with your brew bag is the perfect drip prevention. Hopefully you didn't throw it away but if you did, I bet you won't next time! You can also twist your spout so it's facing up while not in use. This should prevent any leakage that may be occurring.
Why don't you have an organic blend?
Don't you worry your pretty little mind ... it is currently in the works!
How long can I store my unopened cold brew kit at room temperature?
Our shelf life for our cold brew kit ... before opened ... is 4 months
How much caffeine is in this?
Good question! The caffeine content of cold brew can vary depending on many factors such as serving size, type of bean, grind size, water temperature, and brewing time. An average 16oz of cold brew contains around 200 mg of caffeine.
Can you recycle your bag?
The packaging we use for our cold brew system guarantees your coffee stays fresh. It is made of polyethylene, a non-recyclable packaging used by most coffee brands for this specific type of product. Currently, it is the only economical and effective option that we have discovered, for the purpose it serves. An option we recommend to our customers: reuse the bags in any creative way that you see fit. What about for planting seedlings? You could even use the coffee grounds as fertilizer.
Why did my refill bag arrive not vacuum sealed?
Some refill bags might arrive having some air inside. Don't worry, you are still receiving fresh grounds! Air in refill bags can happen for a couple reasons.
- Degassing. Fresh coffee beans release CO2 after roasting.
- Temperature change while in route to your location.
